English Speaklya ("we", "our", "the app") is an English speaking practice platform that connects users through live voice calls and text chat. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it's used.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information — name, email address, gender, and country you provide at registration, or the name, email, and profile photo Google shares with us if you sign in with Google.
• Profile information — bio, English level, learning goals, and interests you choose to add.
• Usage data — call duration, call history between you and other users, messages you send, who you follow or block, and your online/offline status.
• Payment information — when you buy Premium, payment is processed directly by Stripe or PayPal. We do not receive or store your full card number or PayPal password; we only receive confirmation that a payment was completed.
• Microphone access — required to make and receive calls. Audio is transmitted directly between you and the other caller wherever possible. When a direct connection isn't possible (for example, due to a restrictive network), audio is relayed through a TURN server operated by our connectivity provider (Metered.ca) solely to establish the connection — it is not recorded or stored by us or, to our knowledge, by that provider.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account, including signing you in with Google if you choose that option
• To match you with other users for calls based on your filters
• To track call minutes for the Star rating system
• To process Premium payments and activate your subscription
• To send you account-related emails (verifying your email address, password reset links) and in-app notifications (offers, premium activation, etc.)

3. Who Can See Your Information

Your name, country, gender, bio, English level, and stars are visible to other users so they can decide who to talk with. Your email address and payment details are never shown to other users.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers operated by reputable cloud providers. Passwords are encrypted and never stored in plain text. We use industry-standard practices to protect your account, but no system can be 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password and avoid reusing passwords from other sites.

5. Third-Party Services

• Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email, and profile photo with us in accordance with your Google account settings.
• Stripe / PayPal — for processing Premium payments. Your payment details are handled entirely by these providers under their own security standards.
• Metered.ca — provides the TURN/STUN relay infrastructure that helps establish voice calls when a direct connection between two devices isn't possible.

These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.

6. Your Rights

• You can edit or update your profile information anytime from Settings.
• You can permanently delete your account and all associated data yourself, anytime, from Settings → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, messages, call history, and other data tied to your account — this action cannot be undone.
• You can log out at any time, which stops your online status from being shown to others.
• You can block another user at any time to stop them from contacting you or seeing your profile.

7. Your Safety

English Speaklya connects you with people you don't know for live conversation practice. We do not run background checks on users. Please use good judgment: avoid sharing sensitive personal information (home address, financial details, passwords) with people you meet on the app, and use the Block and Report options if someone makes you uncomfortable.

8. Children's Privacy

English Speaklya is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of English Speaklya after changes means you accept the updated policy.
